CFS Cadets – Sturt Group
CFS Cadets come from a diverse range of backgrounds within the local community and are aged between 13 and 18 years. Cadets undertake basic training and participate in a variety of activities designed to be engaging, practical, and to prepare them for an active role within the CFS.
Training Activities May Include:
- Introduction to basic firefighting skills
- Pump operations and hose work
- Riding on fire appliances (trucks)
- Radio communications
- Search and rescue techniques
Community Involvement:
- Participation in street parades and local events
- Assisting with community projects
- Supporting fundraising activities
Recreational & Development Activities:
- Camps and overnight activities
- State firefighting competitions
- Social activities such as go-karting and movie nights
Cadet Training Nights
Training is held during school terms and rotates across Sturt Group brigades:
- Summer: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 20:30 (daylight saving time)
- Winter: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 20:00
Training locations rotate between:
- Blackwood CFS Brigade
- Belair CFS Brigade
- Coromandel Valley CFS Brigade
- Cherry Gardens CFS Brigade
- Eden Hills CFS Brigade
