CFS Cadets – Sturt Group

CFS Cadets come from a diverse range of backgrounds within the local community and are aged between 13 and 18 years. Cadets undertake basic training and participate in a variety of activities designed to be engaging, practical, and to prepare them for an active role within the CFS.

Training Activities May Include:

  • Introduction to basic firefighting skills
  • Pump operations and hose work
  • Riding on fire appliances (trucks)
  • Radio communications
  • Search and rescue techniques

Community Involvement:

  • Participation in street parades and local events
  • Assisting with community projects
  • Supporting fundraising activities

Recreational & Development Activities:

  • Camps and overnight activities
  • State firefighting competitions
  • Social activities such as go-karting and movie nights

Cadet Training Nights

Training is held during school terms and rotates across Sturt Group brigades:

  • Summer: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 20:30 (daylight saving time)
  • Winter: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 20:00

Training locations rotate between:

  • Blackwood CFS Brigade
  • Belair CFS Brigade
  • Coromandel Valley CFS Brigade
  • Cherry Gardens CFS Brigade
  • Eden Hills CFS Brigade
