Becoming a volunteer
Sturt CFS Group is run entirely by volunteers and is often looking for new members interested in helping to protect the community in several roles.
- Brigade fire fighter
- Operations support (Radio operators, administration, IT specialists)
- Cadet
Brigades have an allocated number of members and have a requirement to mobilise appliances within 8 minutes. For these operational reasons brigades require prospective fire fighters to live or work within the immediate area (typically 3km of the station).
Persons interested in joining should attend their local station on training nights at 7:30pm or contact the Sturt Group duty officer on 83703600 during business hours or email contact details to join@sturtcfsgroup.org.au.
Becoming a CFS CadetÂ
CFS Cadets are from a diverse background in the local community aged from 13 to 18 years of age. Cadets undertake basic training and activities that are enjoyable that prepare them for an active roll within the CFS.
