14/02/2013 Bald Hill Grass Fire

At 20:29 on the evening of Thursday the 14th of February 2013 Sturt CFS Group appliances  responded to a grass fire on Bald Hill just to the south of Carrick Hill. Due to the visibility of this area from metropolitan Adelaide the fire triggered a flood of 000 calls. A total of 12 CFS and 1 MFS appliances attended and contained the fire to around 4Ha in size. The steep terrain and numerous sightseers  clogging the roads made the fire difficult to combat. During the incident Brown Hill Creek and part of Belair were evacuated by the police service as a precaution. Crews worked though the night to secure the perimeter and mop up the fire the next day.
